Massimiliano Fransoni, Head of Operational Support Italy

At Hoist, my career has developed through taking on increasingly complex responsibilities.

Massimiliano Fransoni’s career at Hoist Finance reflects how professional growth often comes through new challenges and increased responsibility. Starting in Loan Management and progressing into leadership roles, he has experienced firsthand how trust, learning opportunities and exposure to a complex financial business can support long-term career development.

In what ways have you grown professionally since joining Hoist Finance?

At Hoist, my career has developed through taking on increasingly complex responsibilities. I started in Loan Management managing small financial and then banking portfolios, before moving into management roles. I first coordinated a team of five, then larger teams covering judicial, insolvency and due diligence activities. In 2024, I became Head of Operational Support in Hoist Italy, and I now have 25 people in my team. What made this journey possible was the trust I was given and Hoist’s belief that people grow by stepping into real responsibility in a complex business.

What was the biggest challenge you faced when moving into a management role?

The greatest challenge has been maintaining a broad perspective while continuing to learn. Moving into a management role meant understanding not only my own area, but also how different teams, processes and priorities connect. That broader view has helped me identify opportunities to improve the way we work and deliver better results together.

How does our culture support your personal growth?

Hoist’s culture has been a key driver to my growth. It values ownership, results and teamwork, while also encouraging people to challenge the status quo and improve how we work. That combination has helped me expand my perspective, build stronger skills, and a more strategic, end‑to‑end view.

Caleb Mathomes, .NET Developer, UK

Finding the right balance gives me the energy and focus to perform at my best.

As a .NET Developer, Caleb Mathomes’ role involves different ways of working, from collaborative development to focused delivery during go-lives. The flexibility to choose where he works based on the situation helps him stay productive, connected and engaged.

What aspects of our hybrid working helps you perform at your best?

Hoist’s hybrid working model support my performance. We’ve experienced multiple go‑lives outside standard working hours, and the flexibility to work from home allows me to fully focus on delivery with fewer distractions. At the same time, being office‑based during development phases makes it easier to coordinate with colleagues, collaborate effectively and support each other through face‑to‑face interaction.

How does flexibility in your role support your success?

Working from home allows me to manage personal commitments without the added stress of commuting, which helps me stay focused and productive. Being in the office is just as important as spending too much time working remotely can feel isolating. Face‑to‑face interaction enables faster communication, especially when urgent matters arise, and strengthens collaboration within the team.

How does finding the right balance influence your energy and results?

I typically work three days a week in the office, as it offers a positive and engaging atmosphere. It allows me to build relationships with colleagues I might not otherwise work closely with and to take part in informal activities during downtime, such as playing pool, which has a positive impact on morale.

This balance gives me energy and motivation and strengthens my sense of connection to Hoist. I feel supported both in my professional development and in my personal wellbeing, while the high expectations also motivate me to do my best.

Malgorzata Węgier, Chief Risk Officer, Poland

Exposure to different cultures, regulatory environments and ways of working broadens the perspective and helps us learn from one another.

As Chief Risk Officer, Małgorzata Węgier works closely with colleagues across countries, functions and areas of expertise. Her role gives her a unique perspective on how collaboration, openness and constructive challenge contribute to better decision-making across the organisation. For Małgorzata, Hoist’s culture is defined by inclusion, mutual respect and a genuine belief that different perspectives make the company stronger.

How would you describe Hoist Finance’s culture when it comes to inclusion and respect?

Hoist Finance is a truly international company, and collaboration across borders is  part of how we operate every day.

What stands out to me is how genuinely open people are to different perspectives, different ways of working, and different approaches to solving problems. That openness is what makes collaboration here natural.

We don't just learn to respect cultural differences; that respect is already embedded in how we work. It's part of Hoist's DNA.

Can you describe an occasion when you felt that your voice really made a difference?

What matters most to me is that I can be honest here — in how we deliver our work and in how we shape our work environment. Whether it's proposing improvements to team collaboration, suggesting ways to streamline a process, or advocating for a structural change, I feel all voices are genuinely heard and considered.

One example that comes to mind is when I pushed for the Risk Management team to be involved earlier in the strategic planning cycle.

How does working in an international team shape your experience at Hoist Finance?

From a risk management perspective, our international reach is a real asset. Exposure to different cultures, regulatory environments and ways of working broadens the perspective and helps us learn from one another. Rather than working in isolation, we share knowledge and implement improvements across the Group, making us stronger and more effective as a team.
